Kennewick residents are encouraged to get out tonight and meet their neighbors as part of an annual event to heighten crime prevention awareness.
National Night Out activities will be held throughout the city, with Kennewick Police organizing four events.
The national campaign, now in its 26th year, was organized to unite communities with local police and civic leaders against crime and drug use.
Kennewick’s largest event is for residents of the Heatherstone, Quail Ridge and Hawaiian Village apartment complexes. Fesitivities will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the nearby Park Middle School, with a dunk tank and other games, barbecue and music for residents.
Gatherings will also occur from 4-7 p.m. at Pepper Tree Village apartments, 507 N Arthur St.; 3-7 p.m. at Center Pointe Apartments, 460 N Arthur St.; and 6-7:30 p.m. at the Kennewick Housing Authority, 1915 W 4th Place.
